SAFE & VIBRANT NEIGHBORHOODS

Now, my Republican friends in power don’t like to talk about this, but crime is a problem in Oklahoma. The Oklahoma violent crime rate is higher than the national average at 420 incidents per 100,000 citizens compared to the national average of 380 incidents which makes us 16th most violent state in the nation. Our burglary rates are also higher than the national average. Our crime rate is higher than 38 other states. Crime has burrowed into Oklahoma like a sinister weed patch webbing its way through a luscious garden.

  • We must help law enforcement with more police officers, deputy sheriffs and state troopers. We propose using some of the excess money in reserves to match dollar for dollar what local communities are willing to fund to incentivize the best officers from other states to relocate to Oklahoma where we appreciate our law enforcement officers.

  • We must declare war on drugs.  Tons and tons of drugs are pouring into the country through our porous borders – both land and sea. We must give the Attorney General’s office, the OSBI and the Bureau of Narcotics all the tools, personnel, and resources they need to make war on the drug runners and cartels to make it unprofitable to be in Oklahoma.  We waste so much money on things in government that don’t work. Let’s repurpose those dollars to say – “we will rip you to shreds if you threaten our kids.”

  • We must join the fight to protect our southern border. Millions of people have invaded our country and the federal government has failed in its foremost duty to protect America.  How many thousands of illegal immigrants are loose in Oklahoma – some of them criminals and terrorists – and draining precious resources from our top government services of education, jobs, and public safety. We need to do everything within our power to help our friends in Texas and encourage our federal delegation to solve this most egregious problem.
